November Personal Project: Take Ten
I was reading the Clickin Moms' blog, searching for ways to get my creative juices flowing without taking a bunch of time. That's when I came across “Take 10”, the idea of taking something simple and shooting it in 10 different ways.
I'm currently rereading Jen Sincero's "You Are a Badass". Since it's been beneficial to getting me out of a mental rut, I decided to use it to help get me out of my creative rut too.
In the morning. Starting the day knowing I can handle whatever turns and detours the day will bring. Writing with an extra bit of encouragement.
My current reading rotation. Confidence. Acknowledgement. Direction.
When it's warm and breezy, I like to sit on the floor in my patio doorway and read. Doesn't happen much in the cold seasons, so of course I had to take advantage of it being 70 degrees in November.
I got to Jordan's school early so I could sit and read. Sometimes, that's the only time I get distraction-free.
Not a very good idea to (try and) do these at the same time. Excess stress during a time of relaxation.
This book has been a great reminder to slow down and be more present, two things I continuously struggle with.
I realized after I shot this that the only full sentence of any affirmation you see on the paper is "I don't give a damn". Definitely speaks to my personality.
The contrast of being surrounded by people who are constantly going while reading about slowing down and taking it all in.
"To think what you want is to think the truth, regardless of appearances."
"Some books you read. Some books you enjoy. But some books just swallow you up, heart and soul." -Joanne Harris
I definitely enjoyed that this project made me think a little more critically. Stay tuned to see what next Friday's subject will be!
