Happiness Is
I'm pretty sure happiness is the most elusive thing that is standing right in front of us. Why? Because happiness is whatever you want it to be.
For me, happiness is always in earshot or line of sight. It's the wide smile, high-five and celebratory "YES!" from Jordan after winning Bingo for the 85th round. It's waking up before my alarm and being so well rested that I can start my day earlier. My 100% charged phone. A cackle-inducing Snapchat filter. Hours-long girl talk with my best friend. It's watching my mom and son have their inside jokes. It's a batch of fresh strawberries from the Farmer's Market. Binge watching a good show. A bright, breezy Spring day outside. It's encouraging pep talks from your friends. A good twist ending to a movie ("Sixth Sense", anyone?) It's a fresh mani/pedi. The stillness of the morning. A foot massage from someone with strong hands and lots of aggression. Getting a babysitter and going out at night. It's espresso shots. Watching my favorite childhood movie for the thousandth time. French fries. It's the mighty trifecta of Classical music, pen and paper. It's meditation. It's a fleece blanket on a cold night. It's family.
My happiness is whatever I say it is.
