Kids Were Here|Enjoy

Early A.M. park trips have not only become appreciated, they've become necessary. Fresh air + play as a start to our day is great, but the main reason is because it's so HOT! Summer temps are progressively on the rise which means we're outside as little as possible during midday. After I took Jordan to the park one morning, and by 9a it was 87 degrees, I knew park trips just before lunch were a thing of the past.

Jordan's creativity has been shining through; all he wants to do (other than eat + watch TV) is create. A traffic jam leaving his play area. Play Doh ice cream + pizza. Stories of any kind. I found out that the reason he'd prefer color on his flash cards rather than practice with them was because he already knew all of the words! He exceeds any expectations set before him, and it makes this mama's heart smile.

This week reminded me of one benefit of working out that I'd somehow forgotten: increased energy. As much as I'd like to sit on the couch all day, that's just not my life. I have an energetic 3 year old who, if left to his own devices, would either veg out in front of the TV or iPad, or use his toys to convert our apartment into a wasteland. No in between. Movement in the morning is essential to me having and maintaining a healthy mindset throughout the day. It's especially helpful when I'm being pulled in multiple directions and need to work as efficiently as possible.

This week reminded me that we're all learning. If it's not ABC's and taking turns (which we're still working on), it's patience, discipline and focus. But while on the trip towards better, take time to enjoy what you've already accomplished in this life. This is something I'm still working on, and I don't doubt I'll be in this space for some time, but going forward, the goal is to take time to enjoy what's done while gearing up for what's to come, and not stressing either.

Enjoy your life.
