Day at the Museum

One thing I want to do for Jordan is expose him to different types of art. My goal is to show him what other people have created so that he can begin to explore what outlet(s) he enjoys. In an attempt to do this while exposing him to more of Birmingham, I decided to try the Birmingham Museum. The two areas I was determined to see were the children's area and the African exhibits. Jordan had a blast in the kid's area. He was a little reluctant to color on the statues (something that was allowed) because, of course, this isn't allowed at home, but with a little coaxing, he began to loosen up and explore everything.

The African exhibit was beautiful, as expected. The pottery, the clothing, the sculptures were amazing! It was nice to see my son sit down and watch the video about how the pottery is made. Seeing him engrossed in something that he is connected to really made this day a great one.
